
Kidnapped Tennessee Teacher Eliza Fletcher Killed
After finding DNA on pair of sandals MEMPHIS police arrested the suspect, 38-year-old man Cleotha Abston, especially aggravated kidnapping and tampering with evidence in the nationally-publicized case had an arraignment on Tuesday.
Eliza Fletcher was kidnapped at 4:00 a.m. on Friday when she was jogging in Memphis, Tennessee. On Tuesday, police officials in Tennessee said that they had located her dead body, confirming the suspicions that she had been killed after being pushed into an SUV.
Authorities in Tennessee said on Tuesday that a corpse recovered after an intense search (with dogs, surveillance footage, ATVs and a helicopter) that lasted almost 4 days is that of a woman who was kidnapped and put into an SUV when she was jogging early in the morning close to the University of Memphis.
During the search, Memphis Officers found that the vehicle was owned by a woman; however, she will not be identified because she has not been charged with any crime and her identity will not be released.
The vehicle found by Cops on Saturday, parked at the location that was stated in the incident report from Thursday.
According to records Abston was previously responsible for the kidnapping of a lawyer Kemper Durand in Memphis on May 25, 2000. And when he executed this crime, he was only 16 years old.
At gunpoint, Abston put Kemper Durand into the trunk of his car and drove off. After waiting for several hours, Abston finally got Durand outside and coerced him into driving to a gas station so that he could get money from an ATM there.

At the gas Station Durand started yelling for help, and after that a armed guard from the Memphis Housing Authority stepped in and after that he ran away but was found and arrested. for that crime he pleaded guilty in 2001 and sentenced for 24 years and in November of 2020 he was released from prison.
Fletcher is the granddaughter of the late Joseph Orgill III, a Memphis hardware businessman and philanthropist. mom of two kids and wife of Richard James Fletcher III.
